Crazy Life
is a digital video short, centered on the lives and relationship of teenagers Dulcie and Chuey.  The story deals with the "gang" issue, but is centered around a young, strong-willed girl named Dulcie, in love with a guy she can't change.

Crazy Life, is a short film adaptation of a short story written by UCLA Professor Lou Mathews.  The story has been published four times to date:  1980 Pushcart Prize XV Collection of Short Stories and Poems;  1989 “Crazyhorse”- Literary Magazine; 1996 Love Stories for the Rest of Us: the Best of the Pushcart Prize;
2000 L.A. Shorts- A best-selling anthology.

Crazy Life has also been used for discussion by high school teachers across California including the LA Unified, Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Palmdale, and Riverside County School systems.   The story has served as a teaching tool to show the consequences that arise from gang affiliation and drug abuse.

In 1992, Crazy Life and writer Lou Mathews were honored with a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a California Arts Commission Fellowship in 1994.
